Games Stories

In this blog i will be covering my thought on what i have read through regarding stories in games and how they make a big difference.

Let's all agree that nowadays games based purely on multiplayer game modes are great and all but you have to admit in the end a game with a good Campaign / Story mode always comes out on top.

Me personally i play more multiplayer games than i would story mode games but i can always appreciate a good Story line.

This website here really did help me get a clear understanding about it all.

I never really thought about how important story lines are. As a competitive person i tend to always rush straight into the multiplayer side of games and never really seemed to play much story modes. The two games i always had time to appreciate their story lines were the Call Of Duty story line and the Gears Of War story line.

These two i enjoyed because their stories were always a continuation till the next game , and like a TV series it kept you entertained and wanting to continue onto the next game for it's story.

Right above here you have a game that contains my favorite story mode from any game "Gears Of War".

This game was a third person shooter which contained a variety of game modes. From its multiplayer to its survival mode this game has to have one of the most enjoyable , heartfelt action packed story lines out of any game i have ever played. The story features an insane worldwide war going on between the humans and a alien like force. What made this game even greater is the fact the story mode allowed multiplayer so that you could carry out the story by yourself or with a friend.

Read more about this right here.

In my readings i came across a website that broke down and explained the importance of a Story within a game and how is can be designed differently.

Some story line games are controlled and set to give you various decisions that all still seem to lead towards the same end , allowing the player to think they are in control but still meeting the same ends.

Other story lines such as the games i mentioned above only offer one story line and you just play it out clearing missions and checkpoints.

Checkout this website to find out how story lines play a bigger roll and how they can be manipulated by the creator.
