Games Testing

In this blog im going to be talking about the importance of game testing and how it affects the game in a major way.

Testing the game beforehand always give a firm overview on what is actually happening while creating a game. Before continuing on to why game testing is so important first im going to talk about my experience with game testing. Game testing is crucial because when working on my project i found that when i rushed ahead i would come up with more errors rather than when i would test the game after each step. It slowed me down a lot especially because I constantly would have to undo my work and go backwards just to get to where i made my mistakes.

From research i was able to uncover some things that help me while trying to understand further the importance of game testing and lets take a look at some of the points.

Game testing is made entirely for the purpose of finding out the bugs that are in each game.

Functional testing:

This feature is to check the very settings that make up a game. From audio settings to the very graphics that make up a game. In easier words it’s the very in game settings that make up a game.

Combinatorial Testing:

Used to test the game rapidly. Getting the preparation done so when its time for he final testing all the smaller errors would have already been corrected.

Ad hoc testing:

is the general testing of a game and it can happen in any section of the game. It detects and removes the errors through a random approach with zero documentation.

Compatibility Testing:

This testing tests for if the game meets the essential requirements of the software , hardware and graphics.

Clean room and tree testing:

Clean room testing keeps the reliability and ensures consistency in a gaming software.

Its purpose is to clean out errors within the gaming software itself.

Regression testing

This is to insure that no errors were created since the last time the game was tested. This is to make sure that no random errors have popped up that could make the game vulnerable to errors.

Performance testing

This is The last test that checks the overall game from start to finish , checking and ensuring that the game is performing well and carries nothing that will be able to create system faults.

In conclusion testing is a very big part if ones game and I don’t believe anyone would be able to create a fully functioning game without any testing involved.
